I am interested in - do tell me about
This isn't entirely true - my viola seems to be pretty good at burping and regurgitating, at least when I play it.

Woohoo, we're going to the game!!

Alright, I know it looks like I've been spending too much time on eBay lately, but I just won tickets to the Spurs/Cavs game for Amber and me! This is very exciting because we've been wanting to go since we found out about it, which was a few months ago. Supposedly this is what it looks like from the section opposite the one we'll be in, so we'll be right behind the Jumbotron.

Don't worry, we'll be sure to take lots of pictures. I got some Spurs shirts for us while I was in San Antonio, so we'll be all team-spirity. Ooo, and maybe we'll even make a We ♥ Manu poster! Ha, hopefully we won't get shot. Posted by Picasa

I've got one happy cat!

So, today the cat tower I bought on eBay finally arrived! Amber and I just put it together, and it's really tall. As in 4 feet. Monkey loves it, so it was worth it. I actually got it for really cheap though anyway.
Oh, to be a cat...

Hungry, hungry hippo!

You know what I want to eat right now? Tex-Mex! Oh, but I'm in Cleveland. What a sad day this is. El Chaparral is my favorite restaurant back home. They have a website now! Woweeeeee. Go look at the menus and drool! 'Cause you will! Especially if you're Rachel or Jill since you've been there. Yummy, yummy....

Wanna see what $183.51 looks like?

Hey, at least they're pretty. I've spent a lot more on textbooks in the past, but that was as an undergrad. Things have been a bit different in grad school. I don't think I had to buy any books last year, and this year, I only had to buy one for a class I took in the fall. This is excluding sheet music because I always have to buy that. Anyway, four books in two years is actually pretty nice, I guess. Now I've gotta start reading these and get my money's worth out of them...

I remember taking tests like this in middle school, but they were way more in-depth, and I'd put "strongly agree" for all the artsy/music questions because I wanted it to say I should be a musician. This time I didn't do that. Linguistics?! Well, I did take four different languages in five years... 67% isn't very convincing though, but art isn't way up there. And I hate dancing! Why did that get 42%?

Huh...

You Passed 8th Grade Science
Congratulations, you got 8/8 correct!

Well, I'm impressed! You should be too - I haven't had a science class since 12th grade!

One man's trash is two girls' treasure!

Amber and I went to the mall yesterday, and while we were looking for a place to park on our street, she saw an Ikea chair on the sidewalk! People throw out their unwanted belongings this way, so it was ours for the taking! (plus there was some other stuff that looked more like trash by it) The chair was in perfect condition when we found it, but we vacuumed and lysoled it, so it's really clean now. Anyway, it is pretty much identical to the Ikea chair I have, but in black, so this was very exciting. In fact, it was so exciting that we decided to rearrange our whole living room to incorporate it! There wasn't really room for it before, but it has adapted rather nicely. We both agree that the place looks FABulous! Oh yeah, and the coffee table isn't new, but it wasn't there before, and Amber finally put her slipcover on the orange couch.

We've got a bit of a red and black theme going on, eh? It's like Texas Tech pride! At least one of us went there. And my cat even matches it! haha

Oh, the guilt.

I haven't checked for viola openings in a while, and while doing so today, I found this interesting post about a post about practicing (so this is a post about a post about a post about practicing!):
One reason that musicians (at least many of them) are neurotic is that we fail every single day. We fail when we don't practice, we fail when we don't practice enough, we fail when we don't play something the way it sounds in our inner ear, and we fail when we pracice too long past our effective limits and either burn out mentally or injur ourselves. Singers have coaches that they work with on new repertoire, athletes too. Instrumentalists, however, often work in their own private bubble, with an occasional session of playing for a friend or a former teacher once or twice a year at most.

Musicians rely upon themselves for almost everything - their livelihood, their inspiration, their motivation - it's no wonder that we're a bit screwed up sometimes.

See, this is why viola makes me feel guilty. It's always a nagging thing at the back of my head. ("Need to practice...need to practice!") At least I'm still a student, so I get lessons once a week, but things will be different once May comes around. Yikes!

Hmm...

I noticed that I keep posting things about my childhood. This is probably because I'm home right now, but I'll be back in Ohio in a couple days. Well, since I'm still here, I might as well mention another interesting thing I found from years ago. Most of my mom's family lives about 45 minutes outside of Cleveland, so we've visited them several times. One of the trips took place the summer before I started high school. I was really dreading school since I'd be at a new one, and high school seemed scary. Anyway, after we got back from Ohio, I used a piece of stationary for a one-time journal and basically wrote that I wanted to live in Ohio and have a pool in my backyard. Well, guess what? I live in Ohio! But I don't even have a backyard, so no pool. It's the 50% stationary. Maybe I should try writing on it again and say that I want to win an orchestra job in Alaska.

"The Weerdo's Kite"

I was going through some of my artwork from when I was little, and found this odd little story. I don't remember writing it or anything about it, but I think I made it up. Still odd though. If you click on it, you should be able to see a bigger image. I think Jessica was the weirdo here....I promise I was not (and am still not) violent!

Bored

This blog feels stuffy compared to the old one. What am I talking about? I never really wrote in that one until a couple weeks ago. Maybe I should add a quiz. Yes...
You Are Chunky Monkey Ice Cream
Truthfully, you're too spazzy to be chunky - you cheeky monkey!

Explanation

Alright, I guess I should explain the "green beans 'n green Jell-O" thing. There's this cafeteria-style restaurant chain in Texas called Luby's, but when I was little, I referred to it as "the place with the nine." If you go to their site and look at their logo, you'll see why. So, one day when I was seven, my dad and I went there, and I was in a bit of a mood. When we got through the line to the server, he asked what I wanted and I said, "Green beans 'n green Jell-O!" all grumpy-like. Yeah, I don't remember this, but that's what I wanted. Green wasn't even my favorite color back then! Now it is, but I don't think that had anything to do with it... Anyway, the server was a little taken aback by my order, but I think I got my beans and gelatin.

Yum, right?

Whoa...

Scientists May Have Found Mozart's Skull

VIENNA, Austria - Have scientists found Mozart's skull? Researchers said Tuesday they'll reveal the results of DNA tests in a documentary film airing this weekend on Austrian television as part of a year of celebratory events marking the composer's 250th birthday. Rest of story...

That's a little creepy, no?

Musical Blogs

Wow, so this is Blog #2. Here is the first. It wouldn't allow comments from non-Xanga people, and the people who wanted to leave comments didn't have Xanga accounts (well, besides Joann and Eddy). The whole reason I had a Xanga account in the first place was to leave comments for another friend's blog. It's a vicious cycle, I tell you! So anyway, now I have one of these. I wasn't going to do this, but I always say that... In fact, I wasn't going to blog at all. So much for that! :P
